A round and fragrant Barolo, in which hints of pulpy fruit emerge, well balanced by dry, spicy and woody notes.

Vineyard: MGA Sarmassa (Barolo)

Soil: Typical Sant’Agata marl, Tortonian, poor in sand but rich in silt, with a good presence of active limestone

Exposure: southerly

Altitude: 300 m a.s.l.

Surface area: 0.56 Ha

Yield: 6-5 tonnes/ha

Grape: Nebbiolo

Vinification notes: Traditional fermentation, with maceration of the marc, takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26 – 28° C and lasts about fifteen days with frequent pumping over of the must (2 or 3 times a day). After malolactic fermentation, the wine is racked into 1800-litre French oak barrels or 500-litre tonneaux, depending on the vintage. Ageing in wood lasts about 24 months, after which the Barolo spends a further 12 months in steel tanks and 12 months in the bottle. An ideal wine for medium to long ageing, given its exceptional intensity and verticality. 2500 750 ml bottles and 30 1.5 l bottles are produced every year.

Tasting notes:
Colour: deep ruby red in the glass, with orangey highlights
Bouquet: particularly intense and fruity, very ethereal and austere.
Palate: intense and pulpy, with a marked acidity which makes it vertical.
