Vineyard: MGA Bussia
Soil: sandy Sant’Agata marl, Tortonian with a fair amount of sand and clay
Exposure: westerly
Altitude: 200 m a.s.l.
Surface area: 0.50 Ha
Yield: 8.0 tonnes/ha
Grape: Nebbiolo
Vinification notes: The same plot as our Barolo Classico but further downhill, making this vineyard cooler and more fertile than the one where we cultivate the grapes used for the Barolo. Traditional fermentation, with maceration of the marc, takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 25 – 26° C and lasts about seven days, with frequent pumping over of the must (2 or 3 times a day). After malolactic fermentation, the wine is racked into 500-litre French oak tonneaux. Ageing in wood lasts about 12 months, after which the Barolo spends a further three months in steel tanks and six months in the bottle. 3500 750 ml bottles and 60 1.5 l bottles are produced every year.
Tasting notes:
Colour: bright garnet red in the glass
Bouquet: fresh, floral and delicate
Palate: full and harmonious, with a nice freshness and light tannin
